Magic Box programs have offered thousands of students and teachers the opportunity to explore
a variety of media arts. Through our arts residencies, participants have created multi-media
presentations combining animation, dance and poetry; videos documenting their science experiments;
and photo exhibitions reflecting their families and surroundings. They have explored topics
including slavery, tolerance, self-image, community and world history. Their work has been
exhibited at the Queens Museum of Art, the Queens Council on the Arts, and Flushing Town Hall.
Here are just a few samples of the fine work our students have produced. All were created by New
York City public schoolchildren during Magic Box residencies. They showcase the students' ability
to use the power of photography, documentary and animation to illuminate their worlds.
