We are delighted to announce the expansion of Magic Box’s first public art installation, Hudson Square is Now!  Through a collaboration with The Hudson Square Connection and the NYC Parks Department, Magic Box seniors at Chelsea CTE High School are creating original photo banners about their vibrant neighborhood for the construction fence around Spring Street Park on 6th Avenue.

Hudson Square is Now is a project to make Hudson Square a greener, more resilient and pedestrian-friendly neighborhood.  One of the projects under this plan is the renovation of the Spring Street Park at Spring Street and 6th Avenue.  This is a public-private partnership between HSC and NYC Parks (Parks). When completed, the park will be a greener, more resilient open space that will invite people into the neighborhood and encourage them to continue west along Spring Street.

The Hudson Square Connection (HSC) is the Business Improvement District (BID) for the Hudson Square neighborhood, bounded by Canal street on the south, Houston street on the north, 6th Avenue on the east and Greenwich street on the west.  Their mission, in part, is to put Hudson Square on the map by capturing the innovative spirit thriving in its commercial spaces and bringing that energy into the public realm.

The Hudson Square neighborhood is home to 40,000+ people working in more than 1,000 firms in the creative sector – technology, advertising, media, communications and other cutting-edge industries

The display is ongoing beginning on October 13th! Don’t miss the opportunity to see amazing photography pieces created by Chelsea HS students.
