This year, Magic Box facilitated over 40 residencies with nearly 100 K-12 classrooms. Students explored photography, photojournalism, podcasting, film and documentary making, broadcasting, and digital and stop-motion animation. They visited museums, community gardens, broadcast studios, parks, film screenings, and pop-up exhibits across the boroughs to expand their artistry and connect with their communities. We are so grateful to have continued many long-time partnerships and connect with more new schools than ever before.

PS 12Q STUDENT ANIMATIONS
A huge thank you to our Magic Box Teaching Artists for their unwavering dedication to our students, our partner teachers and administrators who champion the arts, our incredibly creative and innovative students, and to all of you who make the work possible.
We continued to lead the NYC DOE Arts Office Citywide Professional Development series for media arts teachers. This year we were 'on location' for our Fall Learning Day at The Maysles Documentary Center for Election Day to view the film Primary and share in 'teacher to teacher' conversations through an Introduction to Podcasting. Our Winter workshop covered IEP Media and Visual Arts Planning. We wrapped up our three part series in the Spring with a viewing of The Twilight Zone and an interactive discussion with its filmmaker, Selwyn Hinds.
BLUEPRINT: MOVING IMAGE
Hosted at the Museum of the Moving Image, the 8th Annual New York City Public School Film Festival received over 125 student films submissions from across all five boroughs. Magic Box is proud to lead the team of media arts educators and industry professionals who screen and select the final films for the festival.
